At St. Paul's CE Primary School, we believe that learning becomes truly powerful when children can remember, connect and apply what they have learned over time.
Our Wisdom Workshops are dedicated opportunities for pupils to revisit learning from across the wider curriculum. Taking place once each half term, these sessions help children strengthen their long-term memory, recall important knowledge and develop a deeper understanding of the subjects they study.
During Wisdom Workshops, pupils revisit learning from subjects such as History, Geography, Science, Art, Design Technology, Computing and Religious Education. Activities are carefully designed to help children:
- Retrieve previously taught knowledge.
- Revisit key vocabulary and concepts.
- Address gaps and misconceptions.
- Make connections between areas of learning.
- Apply their knowledge in meaningful ways.
- Strengthen their confidence across the curriculum.
Activities are often practical, collaborative and discussion-based, allowing children to demonstrate what they know through investigations, challenges, quizzes, sorting activities, problem-solving tasks and creative applications of learning.
By regularly revisiting important knowledge, we help our pupils to know more, remember more and become more confident learners.
What does a Wisdom Workshop look like?
A typical Wisdom Workshop may include:
- Retrieval activities from 3–4 curriculum subjects.
- Practical and hands-on learning opportunities.
- Vocabulary and knowledge quizzes.
- Collaborative discussion and problem-solving.
- Adult support for children who need additional help.
- Opportunities to revisit learning from previous topics or year groups.
Each workshop is carefully planned to ensure children continue to build secure foundations for future learning.
